Hi, I’m Julia. I am an experienced Trainer with a background in Retail Pharmacy & Healthcare and mother of a little boy. He took ill the day after he was born and it was so frightening because I was clueless about how to help him. I wanted to make sure that if it ever happened again I would know what to do. So I asked my Midwife and she recommended MFA. The class was great, I learned so much in just a couple of hours and felt much more competent and confident about what to do in a First Aid situation. Now I’m really proud that I’m part of the MFA family, and can put all my experience to good use by empowering anyone that cares for little ones to potentially save their life.
The two hour course was a great refresher for me with the emphasis on babies and children. Even though I've done first aid courses before I learnt new things and what the current advice is. Julia was really professional, covid safe and approachable. Her clear face mask made following the course a lot easier. It was great being able to take my baby with me, I wouldn't have been able to attend otherwise. I highly recommend this course and will probably attend again in a couple of years to refresh the knowledge.
Completed the two hour course, very informative and covered so much. Would definitley recommend to anyone that looks after children!
We completed the course when our baby was tiny and now am very thankful we did. At 8 months old now and into everything, he started to choke on an ice cube. He went red, couldn't cough and was starting to go blue. The invaluable advice learnt at the course most certainly helped to save his life! Thank you Mini First Aid x
It was a pleasure meeting Kate and Jacky from Mini First Aid and being taught what to do in case of an emergency. Learning CPR and what to do when a child is choking is invaluable. Obviously, I hope I never had to use the things I learned in today’s class, but horrible things happen and knowing these techniques can really make a huge difference. The class was fun and accessible given the seriousness of the topic. I would highly recommend everyone doing it.
I have worked with small children for many years and have always been terrified of the thought of applying the first aid training i'd had in the past. But after 2 hours with Hayley I truly feel more confident. The course was clear, calm and specifically geared towards the problems i'd face in my job. It made me think of things I hadn't before making me a safer and more prepared teacher in the case of an emergency.
Sky are always looking for ways to better support their staff and Parents@Sky Network offers support and benefits to staff who are parents. I came across Mini First Aid through a Facebook promotion and there was a huge demand for the Infant and Child First Aid class which was shared on our internal and external social channels. The communication and organisation of the event was excellent - Sarah-Lou was professional, engaging and even injected some parent style humour! The class was interactive and educational - everyone took something away from it including much more confidence in dealing with any emergencies which could arise with their little ones. The feedback received on the back of it was amazing! It was a great success and hopefully something we can do again, and potentially roll out to other sites in the UK. Thank you Mini First Aid, you were a pleasure to deal with!
I cannot recommend Julia enough. My partner and I found her approach, style and skills of communication to be of the highest standard and very much what we were looking for in a baby and child first aid course.
We have seen hundreds of clients go through the Infection Control Course and heard nothing but positive feedback. They were able to do everything in their own time and now have the ability to promote their certificate/badge to all current and future customers which has helped them secure both venues and new clients. I would highly recommend anyone that is running a children's activities business to complete this course.
One afternoon, we were enjoying a day out in the sunshine and had stopped to feed our daughter of 7 months, she’s just started solid food and we’d been giving her sliced banana to chew on. On this particular day, she inhaled a small piece and began to choke. I quickly remembered Martin’s words, put her in the proper hold, bottom in the air and one forceful strike between her shoulder blades dislodged the banana and although she was shocked, she was able to breathe again and I can’t tell you how relieved we felt! It may have only been 10 seconds in which she couldn’t breathe but it was terrifying. Had I not had the training from Martin and Mini First Aid, I cannot even begin to imagine how differently the situation could have turned out. In fact, I’d go as far to say that the training I received enabled me to save our daughter’s life.
Amazing family first aid course today with Julia, we have got two new babies in the family so the course has been extremely helpful for the family, very thorough and informative. I would highly recommend even if it's just a refresher! Thank you
"We are so glad we have done a Mini First Aid class. We enjoyed the class, found it really useful and feel so much more prepared in the build up to having our baby.”
I cannot recommend Mini First Aid enough. Kate ran a private class for me and my 11 year old daughter in the comfort of our own home, which was perfect especially as my babies are due any day now. My daughter and I feel much more confident in knowing what to do in a range of emergency situations and I also got some extra twin tips from Kate as a fellow twin Mum! It's such an important life skill that every parent and carer should have so I would urge you to book a Mini First Aid course today.
There are a gazillion things I never seem to get around to doing (fixing the broken blind in our bedroom, getting some photos printed of ‘the baby’ who is almost two but still doesn’t exist on our walls, pinning down the coffee date I’ve been promising my neglected friend via WhatsApp for at least 6 months…) BUT this morning I finally got my arse in gear and ticked off something from my ‘Really Must Do’ list by attending a First Aid class designed specifically for parents, grandparents and carers of babies and young children. It took just two hours out of my morning and covered a whole host of stuff including what to do if a child is choking, how to deal with burns/breaks/bleeding and the basics of life-saving CPR for kids.
We had booked in a course which was cancelled due to lockdown, so we decided to do a private zoom session instead. This was great as we were able to focus on some of our specific concerns and asked as many questions as we needed to without feeling that we were monopolising the session. We both feel that we learned a lot and are much more confident about being able to take the right action in an emergency. Would highly recommend to any new parents or care givers.
Quick shout out to the team at Mini First Aid Edinburgh for achieving the impossible and keeping our 4-year-old engaged in an online group class 👏👏👏 . It's such an important life skill for them to learn and Lyndsey's 30 minute session was packed full of everything he might need to know at this stage without being overwhelmed. The songs have been doing loops in my head for days but they definitely work. It was really carefully done. I think they do parent / grandparent classes and sessions for primary school age children, too. No affiliation just a very satisfied customer x
We attended the Mini First Aid class when I was pregnant last year. Fast forward to now and my baby girl is 8months old and my training has just saved her life! My daughter began silently choking on a piece of toast and had started to turn purple, because of my training I remained as calm as can be in that situation and was able to get her in the correct position and give her some black blows and retrieve the nasty culprit. £20 I paid for that course, it was the best £20 I ever spent because my daughter's life is priceless. I know for a fact before attending the course I would have just panicked and screamed, not knowing the best course of action. Thank you so much Mini First Aid, you saved my daughter's life and for that I'm eternally grateful.
The Mini First Aid Class (filmed for ITVBe) was a fantastic class, both Arg and I found it a really good and informative session
Following the fantastic fundraising efforts of the club before Christmas, Basing Royals FC is now the proud owner of a defibrillator! The news has covered many high-profile footballers who have suffered a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) but a lesser known fact is that 12-14 youngsters die every week from a sudden cardiac arrest – there are no outward signs, no warning and no chance of survival without a defibrillator. Having this piece of kit is essential for our club. To support this initiative, the club has also just run a First Aid course for kids and parents covering all the essential first aid techniques with hands on practice too. Run by Mini First Aid this was a hugely valuable class for all involved. Whilst we’re hoping we won’t need to use our new defib and skills, as a FA Charter Standard club, we’re feeling confident and prepared should the worst happen!
